1110223 2010-06-14 09:31:00 Hi all,

This game that my dad plays has suddenly stopped working since I've installed Win 7. It worked for the first few days but then yesterday suddenly came up with a message saying "Could not reset 3D Device, program will now close".

Nothing has been changed on the PC, I did a Windows Update that day, maybe something changed then?

I reinstalled graphics drivers and it didn't work, I searched the error on Google and found something about Directx, however my Directx (11) is working fine when I checked.

Any ideas? Cheers

BTW the game is called DDD Pool.

Thanks

1110228 2010-06-14 10:09:00 Actually it's a new PC, i7 2.8Ghz with a HD5850 Card.

The game ran perfectly on Win 7 with a X1950 Pro.

Ran perfect for the first few days in Win 7, but suddenly stopped working. The only change to the computer I can remember is an update.

1110229 2010-06-14 10:44:00 Is likely that the game he downloaded from here
www.download-free-games.com
is not compatible with Win7, try running in compatibility mode for XP or earlier, also try turning off Aero effects

1110230 2010-06-14 10:50:00 Off topic, but your dad might like to try BilliardsGL
(It's really Pool)

1110231 2010-06-14 20:03:00 It can be:
DX problem
GPU driver problem
The game is too old therefore it does have a DX problem - in that Win7 is too new for it.
