| 1110071 | 2010-06-14 03:29:00 | Does anyone have this model of TV and does the renderer function work? The on-line instruction manual says this: Renderer Function - Enables the TV to playback photo/music/video files located on other control devices, such as a digital still camera or mobile phone, using those control devices via the network . Renderer Access Control - Select On to allow access from a specified control device . Renderer Set-up - Automatic Access Permission permits access to the TV automatically when a control device accesses the TV for the first time . When Smart Select is set to On, the TV can respond to infrared signals sent from control devices . You can set the name of the TV shown on the control device in Renderer Name . The repeated use of the word "control" suggests to me that the TV can act as a "Play-to" destination for WMP12 in Win7 . Meaning you can control video on the TV from a laptop on the couch, using the laptop's screen and keyboard for file navigation, FFwd, etc . This would be much preferable to using the TV's remote and screen for control and navigation, where your audience can see the folders on your PC or NAS . [From experience, if your audience can see your file names (eg "uncut version") they can request embarrassing home video that you would rather leave out] I believe this is the only model of TV available in NZ with this function . But does it work as promised? |
