1109398 2010-06-12 04:12:00 I have a fairly old computer and it has windows xp on it. I just got internet on it for the first time since i got it a few years back. the person that owned it before me put the program printmaster on it. however it takes up space and i do not wish to have it on there cuz it slows down my computer and doesnt allow my internet to load very fast. When i tried to delete it error 0x80040705 string accessed out of bounds came up. I do not have the print master cd and i do not know how to uninstall this program. Please help eberry (15827)
1109399 2010-06-12 04:34:00 Go to Control Panel>Add & Remove Programs and remove it from there, DON'T delete the programs folder and files as you will leave other files/etc behind (in the registry etc) which will cause you problems such as you're having; alternatively use something like this

By the way, welcome to PressF1.

1109401 2010-06-12 20:07:00 i tried removing it from the add remove progams thing in the control panal thats when i got the error message. i just dont know what to do because its taking up so much space. my computer runs so slow and i tried defragmenting it and that helped a little and i deleted off most of my picture and document files and its still slow. i want to get as many programs deleted as possible. eberry (15827)
1109402 2010-06-12 21:20:00 That won't help then. Back up any personal data you want, format it and do a fresh install.
THAT will improve it immensely.

1109403 2010-06-12 21:23:00 I doubt printmaster is slowing it down. Whats the specs of this system?? What version of windows and how much ram is on it? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1109404 2010-06-13 01:42:00 What antivirus and malware programs do you have running on this machine, have you updated and done full scans recently?
Do a HiJackThis scan (from Speedie's signature area) and post it here.

1109405 2010-06-13 02:30:00 i dont know enough about computers to be able to tell you how much ram is on it unless you tell me how to find it. and it is windows xp. but i know printmaster takes up over like 1000 MB which is more than the other programs i have on here. and i dont have an antivirus program yet im trying to find a free one. and what is a HiJackThis scan eberry (15827)
1109406 2010-06-13 02:42:00 Its a program in my sig below. If it wont run in normal windows, boot into safe mode. Install then run it. Then click on scan the system and save a log. Copy and paste the log here Speedy Gonzales (78)
1109407 2010-06-13 02:42:00 Go to Control Panel, click on System icon, will tell you memory etc there.
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good free AV.
Click on the HJT link in Speedie's post and you'll find out :), it will allow you to see and make a report log to us, so we can see what progs are running on your computer (be it good:thumbs: or bad:devil).
