817271 2009-10-06 02:19:00 Hi Guys

I just found some old bonus bonds that I bought 30 years ago.

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to find out if I am rich ?

I checked their web site and you can download pdf files of the last few years winning numbers.

But that would take a while.

Does any one know of a way I can search my number back all those years ?

817274 2009-10-06 02:31:00 When you next leave the place where you live take the bonds to the Post Office or an ANZ bank.

They will save you the trouble of checking them out for yourself.

You just need to give ANZ your name, and they can check on your balance for you. You actually don't need the bonds themselves, so if you lose them, it isn't a problem.

817277 2009-10-06 03:57:00 After 7 years they are sent into Unclaimed Monies with the Govnt.

IRD have a site for unclaimed monies, just slips my mind tho.

Lurking.

817279 2009-10-06 04:38:00 Don't want to be a wet blanket, but don't they notify you if you've won something?

I'm going back a few years, but remember receiving the (very) occasional cheque in the mail for $10 or so. And that was without checking the winning numbers myself - or doing anything with the few small-denomination bonds I have.

Mind you, that was before they were taken over by ANZ. Maybe the system has changed..?

P.S. If so, perhaps I should look for mine. They're also about 30 years old & have brought me nothing for so many years that I'd almost forgotten their existence.

bob_doe_nz's FAQ 14

14.What happens to unclaimed prizes?

If you opted to have your prize winnings reinvested in Bonus Bonds, they will always be reinvested in your name, even if you've moved and Bonus Bonds doesn't have your new address. If you chose to receive your prizes by cheque (note that this option is no longer available) and the cheque is not deposited into your account within six months of its issue date, the prize money will automatically be used to purchase more Bonus Bonds in your name
