817514 2009-10-08 04:53:00 A Query...

Bottom line of desktop Icons is my Security stuff.

MS Security (New), Rogue Remover, CCleaner, SpybotS&D, Malwarebytes, A Squared Free, Avast, Smart Defrag.

This is more than enough. Monthly I run thro the lot.

Query...Should I get rid of Avast? It does seem to take longer to fully boot up since I installed it, It looks as if Avast is checking each program as it installs after I switch the computer on. PJ

OK, pass the soap and water!

Seriously though, I, like many others, dumped AVG when support for v. 7.5 ceased and switched to Avast which was then very much flavour of the month. Now that Avast, too, has fallen mightily from grace I wonder if AVG has redeemed itself with the new version.

817517 2009-10-23 10:10:00 I doubt it. AVG has always been crap. Whether its the AV , or the Internet SS.Its got a low rate of detection and more in false positives. And the higher the version the more bloated it gets Speedy Gonzales (78)
