817504 2009-10-07 07:57:00 Nod32 is still the king :clap

This time restore was turned on.

The same drive that had norton installed & detected only 4 & left 1.

I stopped the original scan of Nod as previously stated after it found 27 - ran MSE - it located and removed 27, thus same result as yesterday of 31 total.

Recloned the drive, ran Norton through again - same result- removed Norton , ran Nod32

Pictures will say it best. Nod Scan finished (www.imagef1.net.nz) - Some infections (www.imagef1.net.nz) the rest ran off the page. While they are mainly mywebsearch - the other AV's didn't detect them.

817505 2009-10-07 08:05:00 But will it work with Win 2K Pro?

I've looked around Google but nothing mentions Win 2K.

Very interesting thread though. Good work Wainuitech.

817506 2009-10-07 08:16:00 Dont think so, only XP (32 bit), and Vista 32/64 bit. And probably Win7. According to this (social.answers.microsoft.com) windows 2k, and Windows XP Pro x64 are not supported Speedy Gonzales (78)
817507 2009-10-07 08:17:00 As far as I can see it only goes back as far as Windows XP.

I have installed it on XP and it works fine.

Dont have a 2K on any PC's to see what happens.

817508 2009-10-07 08:28:00 Thanks for the responses guys. I'll just have to install on the laptops and leave the d/top as is. Cheers. bluenose (14548)

817510 2009-10-07 18:24:00 Yes, but it seems strange that Avast did so poorly in removing viruses yet managed to find more spyware than NOD32 did.

NOD is an AV.
You need one AV. and at least 2 ASs.

I think Wainuitech has done what was intended - to test MSs new AV offering.

My recommendations have changed as a result:

1)NOD32
2)MSSE, if they really don't want to pay
plus the usual antispywares........

817511 2009-10-07 18:46:00 +1 for pcteks thoughts here ... Chilling_Silence (9)
817512 2009-10-07 18:53:00 + 2 for Pcteks suggestion.

An AV on its own is not enough.
