1109430 2010-06-13 05:41:00 Please read post #23 (pressf1.co.nz) again.
Rebooting=restarting computer (NOT re-installation; is two different things).
Try more ram/memory first (much easier).

Taupo, New Zealand, this is a NZ site. Sorry I missed seeing where you are from.

Have you tried running Ccleaner to clear out your junk and temp files?

Sorry, I'm afraid not. You computer is going slow for several reasons, starting from the top.
1)-Slow CPU, P3 1000mhz is like 10 yaers old, single core and few instructions per cycle
2)-Not enough Memory - min for XP with SP2 is 512MB, recommended 1024MB, you have 128Mb
3)-Old installation of Windows has bloated the registry and now the operating system takes longer to read instruction on.....
4)-Slow hard drive probably fragmented.

1109435 2010-06-13 22:47:00 Surely there are PC techs in Iowa, or someone that could help you. Short of getting a new computer and learning how to look after it properly, you really don't have many options with the old one. RAM is memory and it is a thing you install into the computer box. That will help to speed it up, but as you don't seem to know much about computers, you should get someone who does, to do it for you.

Ccleaner is a free program that you download from the internet and when you run it, it gets rid of junk and stuff you no longer need.
Look back through the other posts and you will find a link to it. I think it is on one or two of the techs on here.

Sorry mate you're not really listening, YES you can backup programs to something along the lines of a Pen Drive (providing you still have the install files) but by the sounds of it it's probably going to be a waste of time. Also copying your files to CD's isn't worth while, you should go out and buy a 4GB Pen Drive and save your files to that.

You need to take your computer in to a local specialist and have him reccomend the upgrades for you, it's much easier to explain in person than it is over forums. RAM is partly going to be proportionate to the speed in which your system will run.

Idealy you will want to go out and buy a new computer all together. To get average to better than average speed you will need more RAM, a new CPU which means you will probably need a new Motherboard etc etc.

So what i'm trying to say is this: What you pay for is what you get. More money is generally going to mean faster and more powerful computers.
