816590 2009-10-03 23:49:00 PHUCK 6.8!?! My Vista lappy only gets an abysmal 4.6. xyz823 (13649)
816591 2009-10-04 00:11:00 My WEI for the desktop in my sig -- very surprised to see a 7.1 for CPU (Q6600) and RAM (dirt cheap Adata stuff :D)

I think the max rating for Seagate SATA-2 HDs is 5.9 :(

I've already upgraded all the machines in my house (that can run it) to Windows 7.

816596 2009-10-04 01:30:00 Nvidia Geforce 9600GT... did you refresh the ratings after you installed the Nvidia drivers?
A>yes Twice.

Also have you installed the .net framework? I need to install that but not sure which one.

A> I didn't, only run the windows updates. My own W7 does though.

Did you download the 1.4GB iso file form the MS site for the 64bit win 7?

A. NO - the ones I have are the RTM from Technet, which are around 2.4 GB

The one on the persons PC I built is the Eval Enterprise 64Bit, ( thats These ones - bottom one is 32 Bit) (www.imagef1.net.nz), its only a tie over till the 22nd, till the RTM is generally Available.
Mainly for the guy to see if his games work OK on it, World of Warcraft Mainly. Then installing professional so he can use XP Mode.

816597 2009-10-04 01:34:00 Does a clean install mean that you have to wipe the HD, reformat HD & then install W7.? That would mean that all other data would have to be installed again. Yes?

Actually No.

You can tell who has and who hasn't tried very many installs of Win7 ;)

When you install Win7, if you install it on the same partition that WinXP or Vista is already on, it will simply move the "Documents and Settings", "Windows", "Program Files" and "Users" folders in to a new folder called Windows.old
If windows.old already exists I believe it makes another thats either calls Windows.old.old or Windows.old.1 -- I can't remember which it is.

Anyways, it makes upgrading a breeze because you no longer have to backup everything to the likes of an external HDD / Thumbdrive. Just whack in the CD, click Next a few times, and you're done 20 minutes later :D
