1109419 2010-06-13 03:50:00 Thats it, you can tick these entries (run hijackthis again), then tick fix checked

Close browsers

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "E:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe" -atboottime

Is Nortons still installed? If it isnt tick these

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [ALUAlert] E:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUNotify.exe (User 'SYSTEM')

O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [ALUAlert] E:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUNotify.exe (User 'Default user')

O4 - Global Startup: Event Reminder.lnk = E:\Program Files\Broderbund\PrintMaster\PMremind.exe

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = E:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Works Calendar Reminders.lnk = ?

Then reboot

1109420 2010-06-13 03:51:00 Microsoft Security Essentials is a good free AV (virus protector). ;)
Sorry to say but the main reason why your computer is slow is because it's old (slow CPU and motherboard speed, not enough ram/memory, slow Hard Disk Drive etc), more ram and a reinstall of the Operating System (especially if it hasn't been done for years) would help (but if you're not confident doing this get a tech or knowledgeable friend to help, not a job for newbies).

you'll need to save off your data to other media (cds, or other internal/external drives), and source required drivers and software if you still have the original cds (or if not, download them from the vendors websites).
Here's a link for MSSE

No, that was just a suggestion (about reinstalling).
All that will happen if you have just clicked FIX in HJT is it will delete the ticked items only and leave your system much as it was.:stare:
