Best idea yet.

1109936 2010-06-14 02:53:00 To make sure you haven't got an underlying problem on your PC create yourself a gmail account and enable POP. Follow the configuration instructions for your email client and see how you go. AvonBill (11358)
1109937 2010-06-14 07:22:00 Hi AvonBill

Haven't tried that.
However I setup Tbird on my work PC on the LAN there and same thing - can't send emails

You can't send with the same settings from work unless your work is also on Slingshot BB

Rather not have a secondary email . I email a lot of documents and like the ability of being able to email directly from Word . As a workaround I have been logging onto Slingshot Webmail but this is cumbersome and slow .

This is why you should have an e-mail account that is NOT tied to an ISP .

Thunderbird works perfectly with Gmail - now is the time to change .

1109942 2010-06-15 11:52:00 I am with slingshot so just tested their smtp servers: smtp.slingshot.co.nz and smtp.slingshot.net.nz work fine with MS Outlook  But when using thunderbird ... its a no go. ronyville (10611)
1109943 2010-06-15 12:00:00 Thunderbird seems to default to IMAP rather than pop3 which does not help. Sweep (90)
1109944 2010-06-15 12:07:00 OK... I played around with the settings and got Thunderbird to send using smtp.slingshot.co.nz... make sure your smtp setting is similar to this (www.imagef1.net.nz). By default thunderbird ticks the username and password option. Untick it. Hope this helps. ronyville (10611)
