816669 2009-10-03 23:25:00 The accent is no problem, it is fairly pure. I believe it has been quoted as next to BBC English.

What I have a problem with is the "CroakyVoice" that is in vogue at the moment, usually by young females. Almost unintelligable(spelling?). Where did that sound come from? The sooner it goes the better. PJ

Well now PJ, I hope you don't mind me using your text to show how the young girls speak in this day and age. Only one word needs to be added, albeit, several times.

Like, what I have a problem with is like, the "CroakyVoice" that is like, in vogue like, at the moment, like, usually by like, young females. like, almost unintelligable(spelling?). Like, where did that sound like, come from? Like, the sooner it goes the better.

Ahhhh, what a wonderful word "like" is. Soooo expressive don't you think.

Ken

PS I am not exagerating. I hear them talk while driving the school van.

816670 2009-10-03 23:26:00 its not the accent, its just kiwis tend to roll all the words into one. yanks tend to say each word separate/individually.
so its " hi how are you?" vers "hi howareyou?"

816671 2009-10-03 23:29:00 I have just put a hex on you!!! There is nowt wrong with a Yorkshire accent!!!!PJ
Heh heh. I lived in Yorkshire for four years. I still recall my young daughters calling me daad instead of dad. LOL

I also recall a roadsign by a farmer.. "tek care, lams on t'road"

haha

My few years in England were best spent up there.

816673 2009-10-03 23:35:00 I like the Southern accent from around Gore.

Gore? No, Gorrrrrre.
And its a lower South thing - Otago and Southland.
My neighbour picked on me for not talking right.

I also had a bizarre conversation with her one day when I had just bought a Dyson off TM to replace the old Electrolux. She'd asked me if I had luxed yet. Hmmm.

816677 2009-10-03 23:53:00 Yup, left out to be eaten cold on Sunday mornings as yet another ineffectual hangover cure as the bleary try to work out where they are.
Ah, the good old days.

816678 2009-10-03 23:55:00 There is a cure for a hangover?
Then there is a god!
The good old days for me were hangovers than went at lunchtime not any more I have had two day hangovers.
