1110351 2010-06-15 00:08:00 Are all HDMI cables capable of connecting the same equipment? This may be a stupid question but... I am trying to conect a laptop to tv via HDMI. I have tried 3 HDMI cables but the computer and tv only connects with one of the cables every time. The other two dont seem to register.

Thanks

1110352 2010-06-15 00:46:00 Could be bad cables?

HDMI cables transmit a "digital" signal, so essentially there's no real difference in picture / sound quality between a $9 HDMI cable and a $129 HDMI cable.

Hope this helps

1110353 2010-06-15 01:18:00 Thanks that is what I thought. I originally only had two cables and only one 'seemed' to be working so went and brought the third yesterday but that doesnt work either. I am lost but I guess it must be something on the tv end... Back to the drawing board. Oose (14303)
1110354 2010-06-15 02:02:00 Have you configured CCC or the Nvidia control panel (if it uses these drivers)?? So, you'll get something on the TV?? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1110355 2010-06-15 03:03:00 If it works for one cable, it should work for them all though, yes Speedy?

That, to me, indicates something wrong with the cables. However, because the cables should all be interchangeable, I would suggest they are faulty, rather than incompatible.

1110356 2010-06-15 03:14:00 Maybe one or two of the cables are an older standard? wratterus (105)
1110357 2010-06-15 03:30:00 one cable is probably HDMI 1.3 or higher and the others older than 1.3 inphinity (7274)
1110358 2010-06-15 06:02:00 Potentially, I guess? Are they not backwards compatible?

1110359 2010-06-15 10:13:00 OK, this has been driving me nuts but I think I must have two damaged cables . . .

What I have is 3 HDMI cables:

One is a 2 ft cable and connects with no problem both the Home Theatre system and laptop to the tv .

One is a 6 month old PS3 cable . When I connect the Home Theatre system to the TV I get a pink screen . When I connect the laptop, the laptop registers the cable but the picture does not transmit . This must be damaged?

The last is a brand new ver 1 . 3 cable brought yesterday which doesn't register anything . This must also be damaged?

Are HDMI cables temperamental at all or is this bad luck (or bad user . . . )??

1110360 2010-06-15 10:19:00 Looks like this pink screen, may have something to do with a wrong setting on the TV. Make sure its on the right option, in the settings

Are you using a DVI - HDMI adapter?? It looks like this pink screen can appear, if you use one. It looks like it can also go pink if your resolution is set to 1920x1080, and it only supports 1650x1050 (with HDMI). BUt its fine, if you use DVI at 1920x1080
