1111463 2010-06-19 00:06:00 Hi all,

Got some annoying Chinese webpage that opens up everytime I start Firefox from Desktop, even though my homepage is set at Google.

I can't seem to find a way to remove it, any ideas?

This only happens from Desktop though, from Quick Launch it opens up as normal and load Google.

Cheers for any help.

Also another question, what happens if I don't activate Windows within the time limit? I've got about 16 days left.

1111464 2010-06-19 00:11:00 Have you scanned for malware?? Activation (support.microsoft.com) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1111465 2010-06-19 00:17:00 Well, you could try reinstalling Firefox with the latest version. Delete the desktop shortcut and then download new Firefox by using the quick launch.

I would activate Windows now if I were you, otherwise you may not get updates for it, or worse it may not work anymore?

Cheers LL

1111466 2010-06-19 00:19:00 Sounds like the shortcut on your desktop is pointing to that page directly.

Delete your Firefox shortcut from the desktop and copy the one from Quick Launch to the desktop.

Mike.

1111467 2010-06-19 00:23:00 I think I tried getting a new shortcut, but the page came back after a few times.

It's Windows 7 by the way, sorry I forgot to mention. Might as well activate it now.

I would do as Speedy suggests and scan the thing.

1111469 2010-06-19 00:36:00 Hmmm, it just came back after I deleted the shortcut and made a new one.

Anyway, I scanned with Spybot but found nothing.

What are some good Malware scanners?

Cheers

1111470 2010-06-19 00:40:00 Get malwarebytes from Speedy's signature.
What anti-virus have you got?

Did you update Spybot first? Use Malware Bytes as well as Spybot and do a scan with Hijackthis and pot the log here.

One antispyware isn't good enough, minimum of two.
