| 1111238 | 2010-06-17 22:28:00 | First time I've really used Windows 7 backup, never trusted it in earlier versions of windows but I've heard good things about it in win7, so thought I would set it up for a client. Windows 7 Pro 32 bit. Seagate FreeAgent 1tb external drive. Around 60GB of data. When the backup is run, it errors. The log looks like this - Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Documents because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Public\Documents because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Music because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Public\Music because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Pictures because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Public\Pictures because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Videos because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Public\Videos because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\AppData\Roaming because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\AppData\Local because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\AppData\LocalLow because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Contacts because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Desktop because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Downloads because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Favorites because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Links because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Saved Games because is it on corrupted drive C:\. Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Jonathan\Searches because is it on corrupted drive C:\. I've just copied that log off google - the real one has a whole bunch more folders that are on the root of c:. HDD passed diag, chkdsk has been run. From a quick google, it looks like a lot of people have been having this issue, and apart from running chkdsk every other day there doesn't seem to be a resolution. Has anyone else come across this, or knows of a proper resolution? MS is in my bad books today... :badpc: |

| 1111243 | 2010-06-17 23:29:00 | Yes, works well, I make a Backup image once a fortnight. I also use syncback to do a separate b/up of documents and pictures every few days. (belt and braces so to speak) |

| 1111246 | 2010-06-18 00:43:00 | Yes, works well, I make a Backup image once a fortnight. I image c:. Then synback to backup files etc. The idea of an image is to save a reinstall in case of major disaster. And it's good for de-bloating your O/S too. But if you replace that image every 5 minutes, you're imaging all the crap as well which in my opionion defeats the purpose of it. |
