1110892 2010-06-16 22:28:00 Hello everyone. I just recently helped set-up a new computer for my friend and it works but it'S been having a problem. It seems that the computer is being laggy and has spikes at times. Also, it's not getting full video rendering capabilities when playing games. At first, i thought it was maybe a processor problem (and it might be still, i'm not sure) but i checked the Processors Temperature and Clock and it's operating normally. Here's the specs:

Asus P7P55D EVO
AMD Phenom II x2 550
4 Gb of RAM
1TB HDD

I also tried to check the BIOS for possible settings that might be regulating my computer's clock and such but nothing seems to be wrong. He's been monitering the CPU's performance for the past couple days and it seems consistent.

I'm really stumped on this one :S

1110894 2010-06-16 23:08:00 Umm that CPU is an AMD, (AM3)? The mobo is an Intel socket 1156. So how did you get the CPU on the mobo? They're not compatible with each other Speedy Gonzales (78)
1110895 2010-06-16 23:15:00 I kind of used the wrong term ; it's not so much spikes as it is drops for a quick second. For example, you'll be browsing around on the computer (could be internet, files, etc.) and it will all of the sudden lag/freeze for a quick second.

The RAM is compatible and i did check the OS to see if it recognize the RAM i inserted. He's running 64 bit aswell for the added capacity. You think i should have him run a Memtest?

And the PSU is an Ultra LSP750 750-Watt Power Supply, so it should be able to support what he's running , and it isn't much. No video cards or added PCI devices. He's just got his Mobo, CPU, HDD, DVD-R.

Sorry, that's actually the wrong motherboard model, hehe. Would be quite a feat to get an AMD CPU into an Intel Socket.

The motherboard model is actually the Asus M4A785TD-V EVO.

1110897 2010-06-16 23:26:00 Which CPU is it, out of these 2?

Phenom IIX2 550 (HDZ550WFK2DGI),3.1GHz,80W,rev.C2,SocketAM3,Dual-Core 1.00G
0203

Phenom IIX2 550( HDX550WFK2DGM),3.1GHz,512KB,rev.C3,80W,SocketAM3 1.01G
0410

And what BIOS is on it now?? If its the top one, you need 0203 of the BIOS. If the 2nd, 0410. Atm, its up to 2005

So what graphics card does it have?

And laggy in what? Gaming or generally?
Online gaming or not?

Done a malware scan?

1110901 2010-06-17 02:12:00 If games are laggy if they are adv games, then maybe the onboard video is not up to it ...... Nomad (952)
