1110517 2010-06-15 20:52:00 Hi,

For almost one week my computer always fail to update the security updates (total 6 updates). I have tried solutions at microsoft support website but the problem persists until now.

Does anyone experience like me?

FYI, my operating system is Windows 7 (64 bit).

Cheers

1110520 2010-06-16 04:06:00 Disable windows defender (If AVG didnt disable it). You only need one AV program. What error codes come up, if theyre failing? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1110521 2010-06-16 20:51:00 Hi,

I have disabled Windows Defender and Firewall as well but the result remains unchanged.

Error code is 646 (Windows update encountered an unknown error)

1110523 2010-06-16 21:34:00 Your update files may be corrupted. Two things you can try, look at the updates and then manually download them, install one at a time.
Go to MS's site, Search each update code which starts with the letters "KB" and followed by a set of numbers (i.e, KB974234)

Other thing you can try - may or may not work, if it errors then please post back which one it did an error on.

You can do these manually, or the quicker way.

Open Notepad, copy and past the following into notepad:

REGSVR32 WUPS2.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUPS.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUAUENG.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUCLTUX.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUWEBV.DLL /S
REGSVR32 JSCRIPT.DLL /S
REGSVR32 MSXML3.DLL /S

1. In Notepad, on the File menu, click Save As.

2.In the Save as type list, click All Files.

3.In the File name box, type register.bat.

4.Save the Register.bat file to your desktop.

5.Right-click the Register.bat file, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password or click Continue.

6.Try to install updates again.
