817688 2009-10-06 23:30:00 Police must increasingly consider the possibility that missing two-year-old Aisling Symes has been abducted, the officer heading the inquiry into her disappearance says.

Inspector Gary Davies said police yesterday began interviewing and profiling people that they have "concerns about" in the area where Aisling went missing on Monday.

Mr Davey said police were also looking at reports of suspicious activity in the area of west Auckland over the last few weeks.

Asked what suspicious activity had been reported, Mr Davey said he would not comment.

This is round the corner from my son (and granddaughters) place.
In that street she was at is the half-way house for mental patients.

2 weeks ago another 2 yr old was found wandering about on Lincoln Rd (also round the corner - a super busy rd), fortunately for that kid some woman found him and went door to door and then got the cops. The parents were found to be 2 houses up from my son.

He is looking for another place to live - not because of this but other reasons but it's not a great area - just as well I think.

He said yesterday Civil defence, cops and TV1 etc were all camped at the primary school directly across from him.

His daughter is now 19 months.......

817690 2009-10-07 00:13:00 this is a terrible situation to be in:(.

was listening to newstalkzb the morning after she went missing, and the father rang up and was talking to Bruce Russel thanking people for the help so far at that point.

must have been extremley difficult for him to do that

hope they find her safe

817691 2009-10-07 01:29:00 Its a bad area around there but cheap if you want to buy a house there. Lots of broken down cars on the lawns and graffiti may give you an idea what sort of people live there off Universal drive.
Good sign the girl hasn't been found in the creek, hopefully she is alive and well.

817692 2009-10-07 03:40:00 I dont know how well I would cope if I was in the fathers shoes, worst feeling Im sure, hope they find her safe and sound. rob_on_guitar (4196)
817693 2009-10-07 04:43:00 Yeah seems like places around there are getting worse. Mate living off Universal Rd (the main road from where Aisling went missing from) had his ute's backside totaled in the middle of the night. The scum's front bumper came off so that's the only lead he's got. Cops won't do much. qazwsxokmijn (102)
817694 2009-10-07 05:50:00 an idea what sort of people live there off Universal drive.

It's not Universal drive.
She was at Longburn rd.
Universal isn't far. The halfway house isn't on Universal either.

The last lost kid was on Pomaria Rd.

All of it is way too close to Lincoln Rd.

And what people? Generalisations again? My son lives in Pomaria at present. He didn't know what the area was like at all when he rented it.

817695 2009-10-07 06:04:00 Longburn is off Rathgar which is off Universal Drive, Universal Drive is the main route through this "area" To Swanson and Ranui.
Lincoln road is is to the East.
Its not a place I would wander around after dark unless I had a terminal disease.

Indeed I personally know the family. Can't begin to think what they are going
through. Angela the mother, her Parents only died in the last year or so.
So she was still probably getting over that and then this to happen.:(

817697 2009-10-07 23:06:00 Apparently we found out husband is related to the girls grandmother. So a distant relative....

As for wandering round Rathgar, Universal, Lincoln or whatever rd there, I've done it hundreds of times.

Theres loads of nice, decent people living there. You can get scum anywhere.
