Corsair, Enermax or Antec would be what I'd recommend.

1110997 2010-06-18 00:38:00 it is for gaming, not sure what PSU it comes with but will send message to computer-lounge and find out, could this computer use the speakers built into his TV? perhaps that is an option and then i can get rid of the speakers and upgrade the GPU to a 5770. is there anything, cords plugs etc that i would need to use to get the built-in speakers working with the PC? because id need to factor that into the price as well smithinator (15240)

Raidmax PSU will come with a ........RAidmax case....LOL, PCTek is saying not to use that PSU, therefore, buy a difference case and get PSU separate!

1110999 2010-06-18 01:25:00 It will be a "RAIDMAX" most likely as its a Raidmax case.

Raidmax is not the best PSU in the world, but to be fair are one of the better cheaper brands. You are better off upgrading it to a better brand however if you want longer term reliability, maybe Cosair, Enermax or OCZ.

1111000 2010-06-18 01:33:00 oh sorry lol my bad :) blank moment, the only problem is buying them separately will raise the price which it is already at the max he can afford and if i want to get the GPU up to a 5770 i would need to lower the price not increase it, if you had to build a PC for $1500 including a mouse and keyboard what would you build? id like to get everything from computer lounge as i have dealt with them a lot and have never had any issues. smithinator (15240)

Well about 5 months ago when i came home from work a Cheap PSU in a second rig (wife's machine) was smoking and close to catching fire, the PC soft powered off.

From that moment I decided those arguing never to buy cheap PSU's were 100% right and I was wrong thinking it was ok to skimp on the PSU in a lower spec machine.

Find a extra maybe 50 bucks upgrade price

1111002 2010-06-18 01:50:00 wow i didn't realise they would do that guess ill be getting a good psu after all :) smithinator (15240)
1111003 2010-06-18 01:53:00 Keyboards can be bought for as low as $19 in DSE. I have had a cheap PSU blow up in comp took everything with it. I never skimp here now gary67 (56)
1111004 2010-06-18 02:02:00 what would you build for $1500 so i can get a better idea of the sort of thing i should be aiming for smithinator (15240)
1111005 2010-06-18 07:38:00 Send an email to computer lounge saying you want a computer for $1500.

I'd go socket 775 on a budget. Get an E8400 and cheap but good brand 2x2GB DDR2 RAM and shove it on the cheapest Asus/Gigabyte board that has the features you need.
Shove it in an Antec 300, get a branded PSU. 500W should do.
You might even have cash for a 5850 if you're careful.

Playing games on a TV is a recipe for a headache, FYI. Monitors are superior in every way but x and y.
If gaming is your only prerequisite and your budget truly won't stretch, I'd buy a console and get a netbook. It's not as good but it's a ton cheaper.
