| 817727 | 2009-10-07 23:09:00 | Perhaps a more pertinent question might be: "But then why do people want to run IE8?" :D Possibly people who want to go to MS Sites might want to do that for example. I might add that more people in the world actually run a version of IE than use any of the other browsers combined. But then some people absolutely insist that whatever they run on their computer is the only thing to have and every other person should run the same or be treated as an idiot. So let's all have no choice at all and we all just have one make and model of everything. Save all the Fanboy arguments as a good side effect would it not. |

You do not NEED IE to use the MS site - FF has an add-on the simulates IE which allows access to sites that have been designed to be viewed specifically via IE. Other browsers have the IE rendering engine built in. The only reason IE is run by so many people around the world is that it comes preinstalled on almost every new PC/laptop. Most people either don't know or don't care there is a choice or don't know how to change (my mother is a case in point). The fact that IE is so ubiquitous means that it is a target for criminals and mischief-makers. If someone has the sense to understand this and take measure to protect themselves, surely that is a good thing? |
