1453276 2018-09-04 00:22:00 Fascinating Ken. The power of steam, slow but relentless as 'here we go off to war" Richard (739)
1453277 2018-09-04 01:26:00 Yes thanks Richard. It is a bit of a long watch but we'll worth it. We have the steam engines here in Napier at Art Deco Weekend but the one that does the rides does not work like those ones. All I can think of when I was watching the video was of steam trains on country roads :)

1453278 2018-09-04 07:04:00 Steam trains on country roads? Shouldn't they be on rails?
Traction engines run on the road.
My grandfather drove a steam roller during WW2, he couldn't be called up as he only had one lung and was therefore deemed unfit to die for his country.

1453279 2018-09-04 07:18:00 Did you watch it all Gary. I am just likening the big beasties to steam trains, as at one part, they are coming up a hill under all the trees and they are working really hard, huffing and puffing just like a steam train. The one that fires up and takes people for rides here at Art Deco Weekend is just doing nowhere near the work that these fellas do.

1453280 2018-09-04 08:36:00 This parade .When I was about 10 reminds me of living in South Wales. It was a dead end street that we lived in. I ran up the street to cross the main road to get to school. But...... American tank after tank trundling down the road too close to try & run between. Connvoy, Police cars at the Front Jeeps & officer cars behind. Affter the tanks more jeeps & soldiers in trucks an Ambulancr, a fuel tanker & more Police cars.
Some of the guys in the turrets threw chewing gum & small chocolate bars, & packets of nuts to me & waved. Got to school very late & got 3 strokes of the cane for being late & telling lies. What did I care, at lunch time I ran home & and back, dumping the goodies at home for my brothers & sisters. PJ
