| 1451059 | 2018-06-30 03:05:00 | So, changed my modem over to 5Ghz, was on 2.4. Grandaughters old, linux, laptop on wifi didn't even blink. No issues, improved her download speed some. But sons PC also on wifi lost the SSID. Weirdly just ours, all the neighbour ones show. Re did driver, removed hw, let it pick it up again, twiddled with settings, nothing.... SSID not even in list no matter what we do, so he can't even try to connect to it. I enabled 2.4ghz in modem again, but still nothing. We see it, phones see it, his PC doesn't. WTF??? Beats me.....I'd think the adapter (USB) is stuffed but then why does it see the neighbours networks? |

| 1451060 | 2018-06-30 03:21:00 | Have you tried changing the channel on the Router ? Might be some sort of clash. Another test, if you haven't already done so, change the SSID name completely. If it were the USB adapter you would expect it not to find anything at all ( neighbours) |

| 1451062 | 2018-06-30 05:50:00 | Have you got another Wireless router not in use, doesn't have to be connected to the internet, just have the wireless SSID different to the working one, then see if your sons computer can see that ( of course it wont go any where), but its only to test if seen. The other option is to completely remove all previous references to the working /previous Network. I know how to do it in Windows and that sometimes works, BUT Linux - cant help, don't know where the settings are. Edited: OR turn one of the phones / Tablets into a wireless hot spot, see if thats seen. |

| 1451063 | 2018-06-30 08:13:00 | I normally run 2.4 and 5 in dual mode to support older devices. What OS is your son running and what is his USB adaptor? Normally I would forget the connections that were known and then try to rescan and see if it'll pick it up. If running Windows, I'd test a live boot in Linux and see if it works. If Linux, would need to know more about the adapter used and the kernel. Also sometimes if the security mode used in the modem is not supported on his adapter, it won't show up, so be sure to use WPA1 or 2 Personal (PSK AES). Also, try his adapter in other computers to test. |

Actually thats a thought, plug the gadget into my PC for instance, it would certainly eliminate that (or not) as the issue. No other routers. Thanks...I'll try that. |
