1453179 2018-09-05 21:03:00 [QUOTE=dugimodo;1280400t I have a printed copy of the Dog and Lemon guide Daihatsu Terios .[/QUOTE]

It says the Terios is front WD.

The Rush is RWD and has a full chassis.

Anyway it also said : "Suit hairdressers and rural retirees". LOL.

1453180 2018-09-05 21:21:00 My opinion on it?

It gets mocked in D&G for being little. There's a story about Barbie and Ken going on a picnic....
Yes, I would say it probably is bouncy....no I would not off-road on it. Hell no.

It's not a Rav4. And I didn't want one. Not that I know how good those are at off-road. Hiluxes are for off-road.

I like the seats - up highish so no more climbing out off the ground type thing.
The space inside is considerably better than you'd think from viewing it from the outside.

I like the back door opening out inside of up like a hatchback.
Enough room for shopping and husbands tools and whatever stuff he might want to load in it.
We have the back seats down, and it will stay that way pretty much, rarely we have more than 2 people in it.

It's a 1500cc, same as my old car. So for me it's not gutless....in fact it takes off better than my old one....maybe because it is small.

I'm quite happy with that... it's not a zero to 100 in anything amazing, but I didn't want that.

Petrol consumption, so far seems as the other one was. About 10k per l round town.
Yet to do a trip, the other used to do about 15 k per l on trips.

Fine with me.

I've booted it up hills, it manages fine.
It has a great turning circle and is easy to park.

barbie car? retiree car? Probably.
We are retirees, well husband is anyway.

He likes it, same reasons as me.

We are getting a towbar, he wants it, not likely to tow anything big, and probably hardly ever at all, but he wanted to be able to attach a trailer and get bits in it if necessary...
He missed the ute for carting stuff around I think.

Towing is 1500kg so I read. I think a trailer and a trip to the tip or a trip back from Mitre10 with some poles or stuff is likely what it will do.
I think the back storage is enough for most of what we do.

I have never cared about any of the Jap cars I have owned so far. They were just a to b cars.
This I like more.
Mainly the reasons I have said.....

That sounds quite high. My Vitara does 5.8L/100K on a trip and 6L/100K round town. Would be interested in hearing your figures after you have had it a while. Different drivers get different results :)

1453182 2018-09-05 23:51:00 10km per litre is not too good you should be getting around 12 to 15 km per litre for a 1500cc engine.

My B200 Mercedes 2000cc gets about 9 to 10 km per litre around town and I'm not happy with that.

1453183 2018-09-06 00:05:00 Yes, but we have had it 2 days - counting today. Lots of boot it up hill, drive fast on motorway (cause it's speedo says 55 hen I am doing 50, I wanted to check it, with husbands navman)

So settling down.......we'll see.

I'm basing it on what the car itself is telling me, started at 10.7, down to 10.1 now.
It's dial has a k per l thingy....

We will of course, check it ourselves off the trip meter when we refill the tank.
But if that's what I get, I'm ok with that...had worse.

1453184 2018-09-06 00:23:00 OK, it could have been reset. When I reset mine it starts a 30 then drops down to the figure I quoted.

1453185 2018-09-06 00:25:00 I don't know about cars in general but my corolla definitely is very optimistic with the figure the computer gives for fuel consumption. Actually it never moves off 6.6 (L per 100km) ever, which is the official figure so I think they've just hard coded it into the readout, I think it's supposed to be an average. There's a little bar that moves left and right and has a small band for "eco" but honestly it's pretty much useless because it doesn't give you an actual number.

What I find much more useful is keeping an eye on how much it costs to fill and how far that gets me. In the case of my corolla it's typically around 40-42 litres and I get around 550-600(ish) kms on it depending on the driving I do and how heavy my foot is. 41 litres and 550km (actual figures from my last tank) gives me 13.4 km/L or 7.5 L/100km which is much more realistic for a small 1800cc car with mixed open road and round town driving.

1453186 2018-09-06 04:32:00 Aircon makes it worse...

We tend to do a lot of short trips, not the best for fuel efficiency, but I'm ok with 10....
Far better than my old P5 Rover, that took a gallon of gas just to get out of the driveway (lol)

1453187 2018-09-07 09:31:00 Our Camry (2014) gets around 7.5 ltrs/100km according to the dash meter. It does go up if driven aggressively, by the way every Toyota I have ever driven shows an extra 5km/h on the speedo, and I notice in the Camry it is regardless of speed. Laggard (17509)
1453188 2018-09-07 20:29:00 , by the way every Toyota I have ever driven shows an extra 5km/h on the speedo, .

Hmmm. This one is the first car I've had that is saying 5kph over what I am really doing.
Every other Toyota (and others) didn't.
