1452668 2018-08-15 02:37:00 This is why I don't eat meat, and haven't done so for 45 years. Result doc says I'm perfectly healthy at 77 years old.

And my granddad died age 88. Why? Stopped eating, lost his sight and therefore lost interest.
he was perfectly healthy too, ate meat all his life, and for brekkie he had dripping on toast - with salt.

1452669 2018-08-15 03:43:00 And lets not get all upset when a cow & calf get put down for attacking people in a Ak public park

I got "upset" when I heard that it was more a rural area, and people walked through it. Or to put it another way, it was more their turf than ours and cows were calving and being defensive of their young.

But I could be wrong.

1452670 2018-08-15 03:52:00 Bro, when you've been smacked down for being a dick, sometimes it's better just to take it and shut up.One of the many lessons I've learnt.I wasn't the one who insists on making pointless meaningless posts, with the presumed aim of having a crack at other people. Move along. Nick G (16709)
1452671 2018-08-15 05:17:00 The best way to get a balanced diet is to eat vegetarians. Meat & veg in the one package. Jayess64 (8703)

1452673 2018-08-15 10:11:00 I eat meat but not in huge amounts. I have friends who are vegetarian but you would probably never know unless you knew them personally. They never make a big fuss of it and at restaurants a quiet word with the kitchen works for them. One of them does have to have B12 injections occasionally. That can be a downside. A friend is vegan, as are her parents. She works in with dieticians. She is often unwell but whether it is her diet or not, I don't know.

It wouldn't be too hard inviting the vegetarians for dinner. I could work around that, just as I do for a friend who is a celiac.

veg/vegan/plant bases diets are becoming more popular and people are starting out on them without any idea of how to do it properly, B12 is the main problem for beginners. After that not having any idea of a balanced diet( A diet bases on jam sandwiches is not ideal).

I myself started off vegetarian many years ago, but ended up having to drop cheese and a couple of other things to get my cholesterol and blood pressure down. That sort of left me being a Vegan I suppose, but I decided to avoid most of the packet stuff in the supermarket too. Some time later I discovered Michael Greger's website Nutritional facts .org and that was a real eye opener!
Check it out! A plant based diet can make a huge difference to your health, and you can eat well without getting overweight, and it minimises the leading causes of death! A pretty good bonus.

Marnie, tell your friend to get some 5mg B12 tablets, all they need to do is take one a week, all done! It's funny that the B12 from meat is picked up from the pasture the animals graze. There are bacteria in the grass that produce it.

Tell your friend to look up the website I mentioned previously. Michael Gregor has done hundreds of videos on nutrition, and getting healthy with a plant based diet. He does short video's, one a day, and you can look any of them up on his website and search by subject.

Thanks, Laggard . He has been vegetarian all or most of his life, whereas his wife changed her diet to suit his lifestyle . I have my own thoughts on that but that is their business . She doesn't have to have the injections . Every person is different . Why does one person become anaemic when their sibling, on the same diet, doesn't? They are both very sensible, so they probably do take supplements .
