1452836 2018-08-18 08:11:00 I know for those who live in the cities this is nothing new but living out here in the wilds of the South Island this just doesn't happen.

Friday morning before leaving for Arthurs Pass I ordered a 32Gb micro SD from Ascent, received a text from the Hanmer garage where our courier parcels get dropped on Friday afternoon to say I had a parcel waiting. I have never had anything turn up the same day before not even when living in Nelson city.

It can actually. Depending where it shipped from and to....

I had that happen down South, then again the shop was Ch/ch....so not too far to come...

1452841 2018-08-18 23:18:00 A LOT Depends on the couriers. Some are really good others are hopeless. Times are dictated by when they do their runs / Pickups.

Take NZ couriers around here - hopeless sometimes.

I can order components from Dove in Wellington, on a Friday Morning, ask for same day delivery -- It wont get here till Monday  Reason: NZ couriers only do one run a day ( in the morning) and won't deliver Saturday even if there's a bloody great Saturday Delivery sticker on the package.

If I want it urgently I'll call / Order, go in and pick it up myself within 30 minutes.

1452842 2018-08-19 01:04:00 We use slow way at work. It’s not unusual for a parcel to take 4-5 days from petone to Wellington city. I’m sure my boss just likes moaning about **** plod (107)

Yes....the individual drivers, not the company.

1452844 2018-08-19 04:45:00 sometimes its the company.
i ordered some gear, supplied from a warehouse in auckland (so less than 200km away), and it took 11 days to get here.
i ordered similar gear from USA and it took 10 days to get here.

why buy in NZ when companies are so slow and often don't stock the gear you need.

+1

I ordered a cookware item (unobtainable in NZ) from a company in Ireland. Snail mail, AN (Ireland) Post got it to me - and only 7 days in transit. Possibly luck of the draw (or was it Irish?) all of the connections just happened as they were meant to be, but our local courier outfits have no idea of the concept of customer service.
