| 1451492 | 2018-07-12 18:05:00 | I read an article about the new RAM usage (another 10%) required for isolation processes in the Chrome Browser for the Spectre Security Process being misused by Java, yadda, yadda . . . . . . . . . Link here: . howtogeek . com/fyi/google-chrome-will-start-using-10-more-ram-now-thanks-to-spectre/" target="_blank">www . howtogeek . com I have a glimmer of insight as to the whole idea and resulting processes to not be able "to see" each other, thus, compromising security, passwords or private information . Putting each process in a different "room" . . . so to speak . . . . . keeps leaks and cross contamination to a minimum; a controllable level . . . . . I think . Under the advice of How To Geek, (primarily, they advise to NOT play with any of the settings, but just for educational purposes only) . . . . . one could actuallyview these new i-isolationary "rooms" if you will: the settings to keep the possibility of passing these private things like passwords, account numbers, etc . , around like a hot potato . Using this ( chrome://flags#enable-site-per-process ) in your URL line opens the Settings Area, where you can see what the (what else?) settings actually are . All well-n-good so far, so I went and looked . . . . . . In my case, Override Software Rendering List was disabled . . . . . . which in this case, I do not understand . I tried a reset to DEFAULT SETTINGS, and the Override Software Rendering List momentarily sets as ENABLED and then goes to DISABLED right before my eyes if I do not blink . If it's disabled, is it not capable of being overridden . . . . . or is the command for it to be turned ON, as in :RUN, being overridden? IOW . . . . . . Is the protection (by it's process alone) now being overridden . . . . . as in turned OFF Or . . . . . . Is the command to make it operate being overridden and therefore is the process actually ON? . . . . . . I wish Geeks spoke The King's English . . . . so I'm asking people who THINK they speak English for an interpretation . |
