1450940 2018-06-25 00:26:00 SMS (Short Message Service) will only to send plain text messages up to (I think) 160 characters

MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) will send messages including pictures, video, or audio content

To enable MMS:

1. Go to Settings.
2. Then go to ‘Wireless & networks’.
3. Continue go to ‘Mobile Networks’.
4. Then ‘Access Point Names’
5. Click the Menu button’
6. Then select ‘New APN’ Key
7. Then press the radio button to select it.

After doing this setting you should find that your phone start to send MMS.

1450941 2018-06-25 02:16:00 You need credit to send MMS, else send SMS texts in shorter bursts.

You can send 2-3 SMS sized txts before it'll switch it to MMS.

I am on a $10 a month text only. Doing what kame says will increase that, Yes? Also what is APN? I can also Email a message , my daughter can pick them off her phone. PJ

1450943 2018-06-25 22:36:00 As you say your plan is for Text Only.
In other words you cannot call someone on the phone nor can you use Mobile Data which you would pay more for.

I did not know Spark had a Text only plan I guess as an extra add-on for your Broadband service.
Anyway to send MMS messages you would need a plan that included Mobile Data and I believe you may have to pay extra for MMS messages, with my Skinny plan it would cost me 40 cents per message so I presume Spark have something similar.

As for Emails from your phone I would presume you are using WiFi to connect to your Broadband modem, so that is how your emails are going out.
I also presume your daughter is using WiFi or Mobile Data to receive the emails.

I only use Mobile Data when I am out somewhere, at home I always use WiFi.

I deliberately did not mention WiFi hotspots, someone is sure to raise that option, just dont worry about them in your case.

As for APN that means Access Point Name, just leave as is on Auto or it may also say Spark.

1450944 2018-06-26 06:18:00 MMS is not mobile data, it makes use of the same network as txting and is a paid for service, if you want to send multimedia, including videos, photos, large messages etc, you have to pay, no plan includes this option. Normally costs 50cents an MMS and is paid for at the time and even if it fails, you still pay.

Most people will use other programs to send multimedia that uses your data instead.

Just send shorter txts, that's why its the short message service, its only suppose to handle small messages.

1450945 2018-06-26 23:38:00 So. I will send short emails at bed time, or split them up into parts. Then do a weekly email with other topic & events, now that I understand SMS & MMS. Thanks. PJ Poppa John (284)
