| 1112392 | 2010-06-22 05:39:00 | OS:Vista64, M2NPV-VM, 4GB RAM, Athlon64 x2 CPU, 320 & 1 . 5TB HDDs This follows from Sweep's suggestion . Recently I went through a huge amount of troubles with one external HD corrupted and eventually recovering virtually all the files from it unhurt . This led to having another HDD to save them to . But that led to having further troubles partitioning it into 4 or creating a 4th Logical Drive . Whatever I did with the system utility or a 3rd party tool, the 4th partition/Logical Drive creation never happened . It stalled everything every time when an attempt was made . With this, the PC also began to slow down . So I had to remove the 1 . 5TB HDD to get it up to normal speed . However, through the Forum many of our experts and experienced onces came up with suggestions and help . Being not experienced, I was also really confused with what to do first . But among them, Speedy Gonzales correctly picked up where the trouble was and he consistenly followed up everything with me from the stage of advising what and where the problem could be and so detecting the trouble spots to installing the Drivers and further updating BIOS to date . It is evident that he had investigated the issue in depth and found the soulutions for me . The problem surrounded the nForce 430 chipset in the Southbridge and the possible presence of a Firewall that came along with it that continously blocked the data transfer and so the 4th partition/Logical Drive never becoming possible . As soon as the latest nForce 430 chipset update was installed and the Firewall removed, the 4th partition/Logical Drive creation with the HDD was completed smoothly . I also noticed the PC gaining more speed . The next step was updating the BIOS with EZ Fflash 2 function . This was also completed with close scrutiny, unconditional support and help from SG . So I thank you all for the help you extended to me in this hiccup but a very very special thanks to SG for his immensely generous attitude to help without any reservations whatsoever . I consider him as one of the most valuable assets our Forum has and I wish he continues to deliver his generosity and efforts to help us all, the needy ones . |
