1112369 2010-06-22 02:13:00 My Dynalink RTA770 router has 4 RJ-45 ethernet connectors all in use, plus a USB type B jack (squareish with 2 bevelled corners.) What might I use that for? Tony (4941)
1112370 2010-06-22 02:16:00 That's normally used for connecting a computer that lacks a network card. In most cases, ethernet is a better choice. Erayd (23)
1112371 2010-06-22 02:24:00 This user guide says it is able to be used as a connection.
However I note that it only lists a driver for Windows ME, 2000 and XP
I don't know if it will work with Vista or 7

1112372 2010-06-22 02:27:00 Some routers also have a USB port for attaching A printer - But the router has to be capable of acting as a print server as well. wainuitech (129)
1112373 2010-06-22 02:27:00 OK, thanks. I didn't have a use in mind - just suddenly wondered what it was for... Tony (4941)
1112374 2010-06-22 02:39:00 we use it for connecting the net to our main pc. the ethernet cable connects to our apple wireless router thingy that sends the wireless network. the wireless thing does have imput for the usb but i wanted the ethernet plugged in as i wanted the best connection. dad hasent noticed any difference using the usb cord goodiesguy (15316)
1112375 2010-06-22 03:56:00 I dug out a spare USB cable and connected the PC and the router. Windows 7 immediately recognized it and tried to install a driver, but not surprsingly, couldn't find one. As I said, merely an interesting question - now answered. Tony (4941)
1112376 2010-06-22 04:25:00 Driver here, Tony.
