2010-06-21 05:52:00 | I'm wondering with a 32-bit OS with 2x2gb of RAM would be better than a 32-bit system with one 1gb and one 2gb? Or is it better to just go 64-bit? | jd2759 (15763) | |
2010-06-21 06:18:00 | I doubt you would notice the difference in the real world. Go 64 Bit and 6-8 Gig RAM for a decent difference and even that is suspect as most apps, games are not yet 64 bit anyway.

Running a matched pair of sticks will allow you to use dual channel - so the 2x2GB option will be slightly faster - but for most tasks you're unlikely to notice the difference. |

2010-06-21 22:23:00 | If you upgraded to a 64-bit OS would it be in the process of upgrading your whole system? if so and you decide to upgrade to DDR3 triple channel memory make sure you only fill 3 or 6 of the DIMM slots with RAM otherwise it defeats the purpose of using DDR3 | GreacherTech (15784) | |
2010-06-22 04:37:00 | would windows recognise the whole 4gb in 32-bit if it was 2x2gb? | jd2759 (15763) | |

2010-06-22 06:08:00 | how much would it recognize? | jd2759 (15763) | |
2010-06-22 06:11:00 | 3.25 - 3.5 gb | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-06-22 06:12:00 | It depends but approximately 3.25 Gigs | Sweep (90) | |
2010-06-22 21:58:00 | Yeah my 32-bit OS recognises 3.5GB of RAM as 4GB is the maximum it will recognise. | GreacherTech (15784) | |
