| 1111753 | 2010-06-20 08:13:00 | so i upgraded my iphone to ios4.0 tonight. it all worked except my camara roll was lost. my iphone info show 184Mb of photos, but the iphone has nothing in the camara roll. a quick google says this is quite a common problem. my fix is this: 1. locate your last good backup (application data/apple computer/MobileSync/backup) 2. copy all the files from your last backup to a new temporary folder on desktop. 3. in this new folder, rename all the mddata files to jpg. 4. get windows to show thumbnails of files in folder. (this will sort the photos from the other data.) 5. copy any photos off to another new folder. 6. get itunes to sync photos from any empty folder, then turn off photo sync. (this will delete the photos you can't get to from itunes/iphone) 7. copy recovered photos to ipod. 8. sync. 9. check your happy. 10. delete temporary folder from desktop. |

| 1111757 | 2010-06-20 11:24:00 | hmmmmmm I would wait a few days anyway, to see what problems people have. OS 3 still has issues, and podcast scrolling on mine is so jerky, and that is a common bug. |

Upgraded to 4.0 last night (yes its taken me a while to get round to it!), but it seems to have wiped some contacts and recent messages and photos. After the phone installed the last thing it went back to was 26/07/10 when I recorded a voice memo. Basically everything that I've done/used on it since then till 12/08/10 has gone! I cant understand why, but suspect I may have updated my itunes around 2-3 weeks ago and this has conflicted with the 4.0 upgrade from previous OS. I cant recall if I backed up or not, am thinking of doing a 'restore' but worried that I will lose ABSOLUTELY everything! Also how can you 'cut and paste' your contacts onto your hard drive? Cheers - any help would be much appreciated James |
