820070 2009-10-13 04:07:00 Ok, This has really riled me up, here's the story:

Over the past year I have purchase a 26" samsung, 22" LG and a brand new computer from playtech totaling over $2000.

Yesterday I bought www.playtech.co.nz because I just bought a wii and none of the tv's/screens I have, have a component connection so was forced to use composite on my crt.

So anyway bought the cable along with $30 recharceable batteries, $15 SD card and $10 normal batteries.

Got home plugged in the wii and two fat, horizontal fuzzy lines are going down the tv like you sometimes get with bad reception. I thought it may be the TV so tried it on another CRT I have in the house. No same thing again. At this point I'm worried it's the wii, so I take it over to a mates place last night and try on his CRT tv with his offical wii composite cable and it works fine then I try the cable I bought from playtech and no the same thing is happening.

Today I took the cable back to playtech and told them the story. The look I got from the first guy was one of "yeh so what? what do you want me to do about it?" I got fobbed off onto another guy who tried it out on LCD tv's and it worked. At this point the guy didn't believe me, I even told them how much I had spent at their store and I wouldn't lie about something like this. The whole time it was like I was a huge frustration to them and the $33 more like $10 at cost that they were losing out on was the biggest deal in the world even though I had spent over $2000 there in the past year. Eventually I got a refund after a half hour of agony but I am totally disgusted by the service.

I officially hate the customer service at playtech all three of the people that briefly ruined my day should learn how to deal with people and problems one hell of a lot better and I will never be returning to playtech ever again.

Rant finished, I feel a little better now.

820071 2009-10-13 04:38:00 Okay - so you tried it on two different CRT TV's - and it didn't work.

Yet when playtec tried it on a LCD it did, so the leads were obviously not the problem.

Seems you didn't read the advert
Supports 480p/720p/108i/1080p screen resolutions with compatible games on compatible television.

Playtech would have tried it on a compatible TV and as advised it worked correctly.

Obviously the CRT's are not compatible.

820072 2009-10-13 05:53:00 The weird thing is that my 360 worked fine with the composite to CRT but not the wii.

Anyway I got an apology. Which I feel like I don't deserve anymore. Because they gave me the refund and did the best they could.

They even moved a 60" tv halfway across the shop to test the cable.

Sorry, I get a bit worked up over nothing sometimes.

Pitiful .
So what if you spent $2000?
That was then, now you buy a cable and some bits and they tested it, they refunded you and didn't point out what a twit you were using it on CRT .

Can't see that as bad customer service .

820075 2009-10-13 08:38:00 Well, I am going down there again tomorrow morning, I'll (none too cheerfully) give them a bit over $1k, they'll gain a bit of temporary shelf space, and I know that if anything doesn't work they will be just as helpful as they have in the past.
I like the place.

820076 2009-10-13 17:23:00 Bear in mind that there are different settings in the Wii for different output frequencies, did you try adjusting those? It can quite often lead to those symptoms described .. Chilling_Silence (9)
820077 2009-10-13 19:43:00 So what your basiclly saying, is that just because you have spent a bit of $$ in their shop, that if you an issue with anything you expect them to not test anything for you and just give you your money back??

Every retailer has the right to not provide a refund unless the goods are faulty . If they are they will meet their obligations under the consumer guarantees act to provide a remedy .

From the sounds of it, Playtech went out of their way for nothing . It doesnt matter if the item is $10 or $1000, more money is spent running around testing the equiptment thats bought back .
