You can't get a search warrant based on what some anonymous person says, without proof that is. And it opens up gates for every Joe to call in info about someone they don't like and accuse them right, left and center. And this is only use up police manpower. 819777	2009-10-12 19:03:00	This is a really stupid idea, natural justice demands that one be able to face an accuser, this reminds me of another place and time which I will not name because everyone else should have no trouble recognizing it as well. Will cops, we are already overstretched and in extremely low numbers, take anonymous tips seriously? They won't. Traffic offenses with *555 they will take more seriously, because it gets them money. And no other reason. *555 is often used by people who are jealous of someone with a nicer car for instance. And the all too well known "honda hate". But it doesn't do squat. Anonymous tips are only going to be used in cases that are already there and info is needed, not for accusations, and I believe this sort of system is already in place.	Cato (6936)

By acting on the tip they are sure to find drugs etc and people up to no good while they are checking a crook out. 819781	2009-10-12 20:05:00	Its a great idea, if its followed up, So much crime in the community goes on and is ignored that any move to get the community motivated to report it is a good one. But, some of the reason so much goes unreported is due to the cops wasting peoples time,so they need to support it. .... and that number should be shortened to three digits.	Metla (12)

That's telling you what you will have for breakfast. Anyone can accuse anyone of anything if there is no protect against it. Just because you will not do it, does not mean someone will not do it to you. I am all against crime, the death sentence, and whatever comes that way, but this is how you erect tyranny.
