819440 2009-10-11 23:56:00 I recently obtained a Samsung HD LCD 32" TV, model: LA32B650. It didnt come with a remote, and i would like to get one, as the buttons are touch, and quite hard to see in the dark.... where would i get one that would work? i got a cheap universal one today, thinking it would do the basics but that doesnt work. Any ideas where and how much a remote would be? aidanmaz (7180)

819442 2009-10-12 01:32:00 Get a cheap Logitech Harmony universal remote as it will probably be cheaper than getting a proper Samsung replacement.
I set up a Harmony 525 with a Samsung LA40B650 last week and it works great.
You don't need the original remote to program it as it is all done on your computer via USB.

819443 2009-10-12 01:52:00 Always read instructions..... i finally got my little one for all "Zapper" remote thingy to work..... you have to put a samsung code thingy in so the remote recognises the TV. Works like a charm, turns the TV on/Off changes volume and channel. If i want the Samsung remote, it takes 2 weeks to order and costs 90 bucks. This little remote does it all apart from changing the source, which means I will have to get up.....but hey can't be too picky for 20 dollars. aidanmaz (7180)
819444 2009-10-12 03:58:00 Strange it didn't come with a remote. Assuming it was second-hand, absence of the remote or leads & manuals etc can sometimes be an indicator of shady origins. Hope the source was trustworthy.

Cheers

+1, they're only about $70 these days, check on playtech

819446 2009-10-12 07:49:00 Yup I'm using the 525 here. Saved me buying an Xbox remote. And I've put the stereo and Tv's remote on it as well. Speedy Gonzales (78)
819447 2009-10-12 08:56:00 I don't need no remote. The day I find myself too lazy to tell one of the Dragons to deal with whatever appliance needs fiddling with is the day I give up gadgets.

I may be in neck-to-toe plaster soon so I won't be able to use a remote anyway.
