It is likely that when she fell in the water in it was quite high, and a lot of it had drained out after they began looking, taking the body down the pipe. You can also get suction occurring, due to the water pressure, and the pipes wouldn't have been all that big. You would have thought that they would have used the cameras in the initial search, because a manhole cover being partly off a hole, and a baby disappearing on the same day, it doesn't taken much to put 2 and 2 together.	robbyp (2751)

819873	2009-10-13 04:02:00	She fell in, there was loads of water going through it, it carried her way up the drain and her body was stopped when it hit the willow tree roots, otherwise they probably would have never found her. The council had received complaints about the manhole cover, it apparently blew off due to water lots of times. The cop had searched it, her father searched it, the search teams searched it. No-one thought to go further up until now. As for psychic crap. People will believe anything they want. Religions, lucky charms, spells, psychics, clairvoyants whatever. A vague guess about "ditches" easily translates into a number of things - drains, creeks etc. So why didn't she tell everyone she was down a manhole on the property? Because its drivel. Why hasn't she told anyone where all the other current missing persons are? Because its drivel. If she had said she had been kidnapped there wouldn't now be a big noise. This is what happens most of the time with so-called predictions - they jump up and down on rare occasions they are vaguely close and shut up and hide in the background when miles out. No-one remembers that though. This rubbish has been going on for ages: In Greece, the oracle - the Sibyl (or Pythia) - operated at the temple of Apollo at Delphi. The Greeks consulted her prior to all major undertakings. Croesus of Lydia consulted Delphi before attacking Persia, and according to Herodotus received the answer "if you do, you will destroy a great empire." Croesus attacked, and his enemies destroyed his empire. Now naturally she was right regardless who won. Not that hard to do.	pctek (84)

However it sounds like it was blocked by other things, as the camera also couldn't get all the way through to see her . It was more a hunch, to dig up the pipe . It sounds like it was a lack of resources, as to why they didn't initally find her, as they said that they didn't have the specialist camera to search the pipes . I wonder how wide the pipes were . . . 150mm ? If it was blocked due to roots and neglect, I wonder if the result would have been any different, if it wasn't blocked .	robbyp (2751)

I doubt she'll acknowledge the mistake though, these people usually manage to turn these things into successes by claiming they actually meant a pipe not a ditch.
