| 819244 | 2009-10-12 07:31:00 | The Jowett saloon of the same era was not really much better, it had the same 2 cylinder horizontally opposed engine. It didn't vibrate much though, it was quite smooth for a 2 cylinder. The cooling system was a radiator, convection cooled by the air flow due to forward speed, certainly no fan, and from memory no water pump, but I could be wrong there, so going up long steep hills usually resulted in the water boiling off. The borer reference is apt as the floor was wooden, but that could be replaced and it didn't rust :) The later Jowett Javelin was quite a swept up styling for the year. Edit: Again from memory, the cylinders had wet liners sealed I think with O rings. |
