820462 2009-10-14 19:28:00 I'm pretty sure it did print the whole number a few years ago. I did read somewhere that the eftpos guys were told to fix it Speedy Gonzales (78)

It depends - if I recall correctly, the merchant copy (which you are supposed to sign if you don't enter a PIN) has the full number, whereas the other copy doesn't.

820465 2009-10-14 20:21:00 I have records of over a 1000 card holders' names and numbers etc. These are from my customer's customers.

Given the topic of this thread it's probably time I purged these details from my main computer in case it gets stolen.

Unless you have a valid reason to be storing them - in which case, you should encrypt your drive.

820467 2009-10-15 06:16:00 Thanks guys.
I reported it, they only do 24hr stolen or loss cards - I tried. I had to call back this morning.

As for the receipts, I always burn them, some merchants show the whole number while some do not.

I never told anyone of my c/c number. I never used it over the phone. I have really only used it a few times.

Auckland shop and mailorder (internet) for a parallel import cellphone.
Wellington where I am, at the shop for a jacket.
Shell petrol and that was maybe it.

Kiwibank you must use it once per quarter year to avoid yearly fees.
I mainly use my BNZ GlobalPlus card.

820469 2009-10-15 18:32:00 Me, SWMBO and our friends visited ChCh three weeks ago, just for the w/e (cheap Grabbaseats). He bought a beanie at the flea market on the Sat morning with his card. Monday the card company called and asked whether he really wanted or did spend the $900 that the stall holder tried to put through on the day. It has been reported to the Police and i don't know if anything happened but  for his bank.

820470 2009-10-15 20:55:00 My old eftpos printed the lot. I've just looked at this one, (which I've only had for about 3 years & haven't bothered to look) & you're right, only a few numbers displayed.. That should teach me to open my eyes before my gob, probably won't tho.
Sounds like it could have been a manual transaction somewhere. All the card details are transferred with a zip zap, flip flap or whatever it's called

Unless you shop in Electronics Boutique. :annoyed:

I bought something there and after swiping my card through the machine, while I was keying my PIN number, the assistant started to key my card details into her computer. When I objected, I was told it was a requirement from their Aussie owners that they record full C/C numbers for reconciliation at the end of the day. I snatched my card back and made her cancel the transaction. Since then I have only ever used cash in EB - and then only if I can't find the game elsewhere.

I am fairly sure it is illegal, but have never been able to find anything concrete to confront EB with.

Did shye just key in the card number or the Security Code too?
Credit card numbers are useless without the security code at the back
