1113180 2010-06-24 22:29:00 Hi,

I have been running windows 7 for some time. Recently upon booting I get to the Welcome screen and then it goes to blank booting through to the desktop. However the pc seems to stop booting through to the desktop and nothing happens. Because of the time it takes and nevers boots through to the desktop I turn it off wait a few seconds and then turn it on again. Usually by the 3rd attempt it manages to load.

Can anyone advise what my problem may be?

Nomad need to check your 1st 2 questions out. Yes the mouse does show and move on the black screen.

1113186 2010-06-24 23:27:00 Sounds like a video driver issue, perhaps win update has fubared the driver....have you tried running windows updates? SolMiester (139)

If the mouse shows up and moves. You have the black screen of death. Boot up with the CD and use system restore.

1113188 2010-06-24 23:30:00 You should ask the mod to move this. Cos it gets messy. Nomad (952)
1113189 2010-06-24 23:49:00 I had an XP startup problem which turned out to be failing memory - it didn't like cold mornings

I ran a memory test boot disc and could see the errors get less as the machine warmed up
