| 1112957 | 2010-06-23 22:36:00 | For anyone who purchased & installed office 2007 within the upgrade period, (between March 5, 2010, and September 30, 2010) the upgrade download is now available from Microsoft Upgrade (office.microsoft.com). You need to supply your Office product ID (not your product key) from the "About" on the installed Office 2007. You are then forwarded on to create a Account if you don't already have a Windows Live one already. You have the option of purchasing a backup CD for $21.03 ( not to sure what currency) then finally the download button, along with the NEW product key is supplied. The download is 586MB in size. Once the upgrade has been installed the older Product key that was used in Office 2007 is not invalid and legally cant be used. |

Don't know why you would want to but a CD when you can just burn the downloaded file, but whatever... :p Once the upgrade has been installed the older Product key that was used in Office 2007 is not invalid and legally cant be used. Is that correct? |

| 1112959 | 2010-06-23 23:18:00 | I read it someplace, could have been on a sheet from the suppliers, or even MS's site. If you upgrade the Office 2007 to 2010, the 2007 key now becomes invalid. Its a free upgrade to 2010. Think about it -- If someone purchased a 2007 3 user Home & Student, then upgraded them to 2010 (which requires a different COA). If the old key was still valid, then MS are basically giving away 3 copies of office 2010. Now times that by how many people brought office 2007 and that equals a sh1t load of free software -- can you see MS giving away thousands if not millions of copies :) Just spoke to one of the suppliers and hes sure its in the EULA when installing 2010 -- the one no one ever reads. |

| 1112963 | 2010-06-24 03:17:00 | It is an upgrade from 2007 to 2010 so yes, the original Office 2007 could not be used on another machine. This is how it has always been if you have an old, full version of Office (or Windows) and buy an upgrade to the latest version. If you ever had to reload the downloaded Office 2010 I assume it would ask you to put in the original Office 2007 disc before it would install again. |

Just done it on one of the customers PC's, they have 3 user Office 2007 Home/Student. It was installed on one, and that upgraded fine, the other PC which I just reinstalled last week with No office, the office 2010 went straight in accepted the New Product key, activated etc. Just to confirm what was mentioned about the old Product key - From the License agreement: 17. UPGRADE OR CONVERSION. To upgrade or convert software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade or conversion. Upon upgrade or conversion, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software you upgraded or converted from. After you upgrade or convert, you may no longer use the software you upgraded or converted from. |
