1112458 2010-06-22 21:16:00 For the last 4 years I have been using been using the pump and water block from a Thermaltake Bigwater 745 and the Thermaltake radiator that came with my Thermaltake SwordM case (picture attached).

I know feel it is time to upgrade to a full custom system. At the moment I am planning on water cooling just the CPU but making sure I can add 1 or 2 GTX 470's into the system later. The case has room for 2x 240 rads on the door, another 240 rad on the bottom and the possibility one of the top of the case.

This is the set-up I am currently looking at.

EK COOLSTREAM RAD XT 240 (attached to door of case).
EK SUPREME HF NICKEL CPU block.
SWIFTECH MCP655 12V DC PUMP.
EK Multioption RES X2 - 150 Advanced.
BITSPOWER BLACK SPARKLE G1/4" 1/2" FITTING all round.
Some form of 1/2" ID piping, possibly Syscooling 1/2" Silicon Gel Hose Tubing?
FESER ONE COOLING FLUID - UV BLUE 1 Litre

Any comments on this set up?

For upgrading I would like to eventually buy and water cool some GTX 470's. EVGA's pre-installed hydro copper versions would be nice but are not available in New Zealand as far as I can tell. For each graphics card I would probably add another EK 240rad. Would the CPU and two GPU's be fine in one loop or would I need to look at a 2nd loop and pump?

1112461 2010-06-23 01:54:00 What CPU have you got? And don't buy any coolants with any dyes in it. And don't buy ready coolants - they are horribly overpriced. The best coolant is distilled/de-ionised water and pure silver, which I will be purchasing for a few people very soon. They are around $14 for a 100mmx10mmx1mm piece. There's no need to add any anti-corrosion additive as these days custom water cooling components are made of metals that won't react with each other (mainly copper). qazwsxokmijn (102)
1112462 2010-06-23 04:01:00 Completely different question-does the case come with the touchscreen or do you buy it separate? jd2759 (15763)

What is the purpose of the silver? I have an i5 750.

The screen has to be purchased separately.

1112464 2010-06-23 10:24:00 Silver has this amazing anti-biotic property. Silver ions are able to disrupt the metabolism or break the cell walls of single celled organisms (algae and the like) and thus is an excellent additive for watercooling loops. qazwsxokmijn (102)

I don't agree, I have used distilled water, and also with a small amount of additive, I have also tried the swiftech additive (crap) and by far the best I have used is Feser coolant, the temps are almost the same as pure water, the dye doesn't stain the tubes, and the liquid doesn't conduct at all, so if you get a leak your system won't miss a beat... hey that rymed! LOL

Also I had no gunk buildup with feser one, but did with pure water, water with swiftech additive, and with the Zalman additive.

I would say 4 rads is way overkill for your setup, I currently have a Feser xchanger 360 (CPU) and a swiftech MCR220 QP stack (not stacked for vid card) and both my CPU and vidcard idle at 30, gaming goes up to 45 on the CPU and 40 on the vid (i7 930 @ 4.2Ghz and a Radeon 5870)
