821160 2009-10-17 03:46:00 I'm sticking with Win XP until I get another PC that has W7 installed.. paulw (1826)
821161 2009-10-17 04:01:00 I've begun upgrading the whole home / work network to Win7. 1GB RAM+ and it's almost a no-brainer where driver / app support isn't an issue :)

YMMV

821162 2009-10-17 04:44:00 I see no reason to remove Vista form my lap top. It works for me. I like it for what I use it for. tut (12033)

IOf your using the RC won't you have to do this hole exercise again next year when it expires or have you been able to obtain prerelease copies of W7??

821164 2009-10-17 06:21:00 I'ma on Win7 32bit. It crashed a few days ago, and nothing would repair it. It stalled on the login and said I was missing files. Anyway, just reinstalled over it and grabbed everything from windows.old file.

Its funny because this happened to my sister after 3 days with 7 installed. Hmm.

Sorry to be pedantic but the last time I checked it was a windows.old folder rather than a file?

He has been able to get prerelease versions. Upgrading the whole network to RC would be a bit stupid:p

TechNet I assume:)

821165 2009-10-17 07:08:00 I have XP Professional on an older PC, and Vista Home Premium on the one that is about 18 months old.
Having used all normal Windows releases since 3.1, I have found that Vista has been the best and most reliable release. I will upgrade in perhaps 6 months time if other users who I know consider it better than Vista.
Meanwhile, may whatever deities there may be protect us from the geeks and uneducated who think Linux must be better because it's free.

Thanks for the pointer and the read, pcuserwinvista. Not sure the significance of the 42 though. Possibilities are your age -- or you are taking the number from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? The latter seems unlikely as the number 42 was found not to be the answer to the universe, life and everything after all.

821169 2009-10-18 08:49:00 I have only just moved to vista ultimate. I have tried out windows 7, and it really has no advantages for me, apart from perhaps XP mode. I have got Vista working and configured sweetly, and it is really a good OS now after the service packs. Plus I think Vistas visual look and feel and interface is better, and more technical looking. Win 7 look a bit dumbed down. robbyp (2751)
