821128 2009-10-16 23:49:00 I will be sticking with Windows XP for many reasons. Mainly because it has given me no problems and I can't be bothered learning how to use another OS. convair (13650)
821129 2009-10-17 00:20:00 I'm sticking with XP because "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" :D.

I'll upgrade to 7, but for now XP does everything I require.

821134 2009-10-20 22:23:00 Looks as though I will have to stay with XP, as Microsoft in their wisdom, have decided that to upgrade over the top of XP to W7 is not on. Damned if I'm going to try to reinstall all programs again, find lost activation keys etc, download again all programs like Reg Mechanic, NOD 32, Comodo etc. What a hassle! It's not as though I want to upgrade from W3.1 or W93. XP is a pretty recent up to date O/S and should not be too far away from W7. I resisted Vista because everybody said it was crap, just as I didn't upgrade to W2000 or ME, but when I was ready to move on upgrading was not a problem. Microsoft have let a lot of their supporters down by taking this approach, and I can only hope that enough pressure will be put on them to enable an upgrade from XP in some way. If you are reading this Microsoft, do something about it!! :annoyed::annoyed: Richard (739)
821135 2009-10-20 22:27:00 XP went RTM on October 25, 2001. That's almost 8 years ago, 8 years is an eternity in the IT industry.

I didn't hear people surprised that you couldn't upgrade from 2k to Vista.

821136 2009-10-20 22:30:00 Windows XP was first released on October 25, 2001

I think that puts it pretty much in the same category as W98 in regards to age.

Though it also makes it the finest software ever created.

821137 2009-10-20 22:41:00 You could say though that 3 service packs later it is not the same program as was released in 2001. I still consider XP SP3 to be a pretty contemporary O/S. It was easily upgraded to Vista, as has been MS practice in the past, so why change now. Richard (739)
