You bet do you? Or do you not? Yes I have assumed in the past I believe and I should not have done. You also say that "I think I have seen you jump to a conclusion on the odd occassion too." May I ask when you saw that? I was sadly under the impression we have never met in person. |

The issues are whether the King of Tonga owes a duty of care to the poor sods who have the misfortune to live in his country, and whether we should subsidise that. |

The issues are whether the King of Tonga owes a duty of care to the poor sods who have the misfortune to live in his country, and whether we should subsidise that. The point the original poster made in the first post was apparntly wrong in so far has the second post changed the amount of money NZ has sent. Personally I do not know what was sent and by who to Tonga. I also do not know what has been sent to Samoa either. When a number of people died in New Zealand back in 1953 I did not notice any input from Samoa or Tonga at that time. (Tangiwai) Other people died in Wellington due to a storm in 1968 and I did not notice any help from other Islands in the Pacific.(Wahine) At that time I lived in Wanuiomata and worked near Petone. The rescue people in charge that day declined the help I offered. A few died back in 1979 (Erebus) and once again I did not notice any help. Should we help others? I think so. Next time you want help I will simply ignore your screams as it may put me out of my way. I note that the original poster has last posted on this thread some days ago so therefore why are we arguing or debating the issue? |

| 820802 | 2009-10-15 20:41:00 | Ironic that there are more Tongans in Auckland than there are in Tonga. Hell there are more probably more in Manukau alone. And every one of his subjects wants to leave to either here or Australia. |
