1112967 2010-06-24 08:33:00 I am having 'grief'. Last month I purchased Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 (DVD) from Lapshop NZ. They advertised (and still do) 'Purchase any Microsoft Student Select Office Suite today and upgrade to Office Professional Plus 2010 for just $20 when it is released. '

Tonight it won't accept my no, and that particular version of Office 2007 is not listed among the eligible options. :(

I am more than a little brassed off at the moment. I emailed Lapshop a couple of days ago, asking how to upgrade the software, and as yet not had a reply...

1112968 2010-06-24 10:44:00 For starters they appear to be wrong on two accounts. ( unless they have some sort of special arrangement with MS)

1. Its A FREE upgrade, not costing $20.
2. As per the MS site, not every version of Office is eligible

OFFICE 2007 QUALIFYING PRODUCT (LICENSES)

OFFICE 2010 UPGRADE PRODUCT (LICENSES)

Office Home and Student 2007 > Office Home and Student 2010

Office Standard 2007/Office Basic 2007 > Office Home and Business 2010

Office Small Business 2007 > Office Professional 2010

Office Professional 2007>Office Professional 2010

Office Ultimate 2007>Office Professional 2010

Thats quoted from the site I posted earlier ( just a little more tidy as it doesn't copy past to well) , in section 1 where it says a"see terms and conditions"

1112969 2010-06-24 11:00:00 Damn timer ran out: mumble mumble ( insert swear word)

Edited: I think you will have a case of them (Lapshop) putting up false info as well. look at the terms and conditions on MS'S site section 1
13. This promotion is not valid for volume license customers, customers with not-for-resale or promotional product, customers who purchase Office 2007 through the “Home Use Rights” or “Student Select” programs. I think thats the type they are selling.

Maybe you should point this out to them.

1112970 2010-06-24 11:26:00 I think your problem is they should not have sold you a enterprise edition of office. That edition is not for public sale but for volume license customers only. Their upgrade paths are different. McRuff (12291)

My thoughts as well for what that may be worth.

1112972 2010-06-24 13:33:00 If you're a student, MS will give you a Academic Professional version for $92.00 but only 1 licence I believe?

If I bought Office 2007 today, would I still be eligible for the bump upto 2010?

Unless it's changed.
It's $80 and it's called The Ultimate Steal for 2007, eligible for free download upgradeable to 2010. You have to register using your school's email addy and then download it, thru the shopping cart checkout you will get your serial key, they also email you stuff without/with the key but they ask you to keep them for proof of purchase.

If you want pay $10 or $20 more and they send you a CD.

Yes 1 license. So for a student you cannot have it on your PC and laptop. You also cannot buy 2 copies. If you need that you are better with the Home Office Edition in the shops which provides 3 licenses.
