1112797 2010-06-23 11:21:00 So what is it? AMD? Intel? Socket A, 754/478/775?? That may help Speedy Gonzales (78)
1112798 2010-06-23 11:25:00 Is This the board ? (www.foxconnsupport.com) the closest Foxconn appear to have is the K8S760MG-6LRS If its it, drivers are down the page a bit.

Other wise you can go here (www.foxconnsupport.com) , select the socket type, then model Number on the right.

1112799 2010-06-23 11:43:00 Looks like it uses the SiS 760GX chipset. You can get that here (www.sis.com). Let it scan the system. If its connected to a network, check windowsupdate. That maybe the only way you're going to get the sound Speedy Gonzales (78)
1112800 2010-06-24 09:16:00 The numbers printed are: PC 760M02-GX-GLRS

That sounds like the model number to me. N15235 may be related but I don't know
For example, my board is an MicroStar 790GX-G65 \ MS-7576

Note: 790GX and 760GX chipsets have nothing in common at all, except the names look similar and they're both chipsets!

What Speedy says about the SiS 760GX chipset sounds sensible. Download the Unified chipset package from SiS which supports the SiS 760GX chipset and install that.

Your sound chip may not be SiS though, but there are many tools to help find out what it is. www.lavalys.com Will tell you, you can get a free trial for 30 days which is plenty of time

Everest should also be able to tell you the Motherboard model number as well...

1112801 2010-06-24 09:22:00 Go to device manager, double click on the ? then go to he details screen, change it to hardware ids. Copy and paste whats there here. Then we'll find out what the audio is Speedy Gonzales (78)
1112802 2010-06-24 09:44:00 but it will be a lot easier for him and us if he uses Everest... Agent_24 (57)
1112803 2010-06-24 10:21:00 Just mere luck, I downloaded a soundmax driver (couldn't even remember which one) installed and it works but somehow, the winfast 6600gt vid card is not too happy with it and refused to work anymore. Anyway, I pulled it out and used the onboard vid instead. They work quite happily together. :)

Thanks for all the suggestions, links and most important of all, your precious time. :thanks

Cheers

1112804 2010-06-24 23:52:00 That's why you don't just install random drivers and hope they work... or did you have a reason to install the SoundMAX drivers?

Anyway if you think the sound drivers are correct then you should be able to fix your 6600GT by reinstalling the latest drivers for it...

Maybe it's so co-incident that the vid card has come to the end of it's life. I plugged it into another machine and it still cannot wake up! I would assume that it's dead.
