820785 2009-10-15 05:46:00 Well he is the king, if anyone had a right to fly business class a king has. prefect (6291)
820786 2009-10-15 05:50:00 I think we can safely assume OP and his daughter have done more to deserve their own business tickets. The prince on the other hand probably had done nothing to merit his own business ticket. He's just the son of a king and as unfairness dictates he gets what he didn't work for.

Right on.

If I could afford business class I would. And if I could afford it, I would have worked hard to do so.

This is a guy who has done nothing. In the said trip he probably spent more than all those who posted in this thread have earned in the last 12 months combined.

While his countrymen supposedly starve if they can't get into NZ or aussie. That's not right is it?

820787 2009-10-15 06:10:00 You're quite right Cato, my sympathies lie fairly on the Tongan Democracy side
(But very much with the families of the Ferry Disaster Victims).
His contempt for his fellow countrymen beggars belief.:(

I guess you would not help your neighbour either possibly.

I do think that NZ tries to help others in times of trouble and all too often the cash is diverted for other ends.

820789 2009-10-15 06:57:00 I go out of my way to help other people Sweep.
I just feel that monies remitted should be put to the intended purpose,
not so someone, who is the head of state for a country, can swan off to Edinburgh while his 'Subjects' grieve because their nearest and dearest have perished in a sub-standard ferry.

I agree that any money donated should go to help the people affected. This is why I donate to the Red Cross and Salvation Army on a regular basis because I think most of the donations actually are used for the intended purpose.

A long time ago when I was child I used to donate to Forest & Bird because I beleived in the cause at that time. I also used to donate to CORSO and also Barnado.

Was the Tongan King responible for the Ferry sinking?

820791 2009-10-15 07:37:00 Did I say he was? He is however responsible for their happiness and well-being in my opinion. KarameaDave (15222)

You did not say that the King of Tonga was resposnible.

But we might think that some politicians in NZ are not responsible either for that matter.

John Key, as Prime Minister, is, by your logic responsible for the wellbeing and happiness of all NZ citizens.

820793 2009-10-15 08:02:00 No, he is not King, and anyone who imagines that politicians are responsible is hallucinating.
But, I bet if that ferry had been a NZ one and it had been John Key on his way to Edinburgh, he would have had the nouse to get home, and look concerned!

Thank you for the reply.

How much do you bet? Another person jumping to a conclusion.
