Just curious. Some years ago, on TV, there was a programme where one person sat behind a screen & spoke. Out front, an expert or panel of experts had to determine which part of the UK the subject came from & any other accent influence they could pick up.

For me.. My main accent is Yorkshire (father) But people also pick up Welsh (mother). Also in there is Sussex & Gloucester.

Do you have an accent & what is it?

NZ appears not to have a strong accent of it's own, Yes or No?

There are all sorts of overseas accents, some of which may be stronger in some regions than others.

That means we sound different to Strine speakers, which is almost as good as not sounding like an Africaaner. ;)

That's only because they don't know how to pronounce the letter "i" over in Australia. I'd rather have fush & chups than feeesh and cheeeps.
