1114630 2010-06-29 23:56:00 Hey guys, building a PC on a tight budget (upto $700.00)

So far I have the following:

AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.9Ghz Processor
Kingston DDR2-800 RAM (1x2GB)
Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 Motherboard
Thermaltake Xaser V 8000A E-ATX case
Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD (16MB cache, 7200rpm)
Silverstone Strider Essential 400W PSU (pretty sure it has modular cabeling)

The total for this I've worked out to be about $630.00

Notes:
Already have a monitor
Already have a dvd burner
already have a GS8400 1GB GPU

Can anyone have a look, see if they could possibly do it for cheaper?
Or suggest any upgrades/faults with what I have so far..
Cheers heaps

1114633 2010-06-30 00:20:00 save money? cheaper case.

i always like a 2nd hdd for backup incase of a physical failure or something else bad. but depends on the client ....

1114634 2010-06-30 00:41:00 A very good budget PC build.

Is there any reason you need that case though? I personally think it looks crap! :p

Something like this (pbtech.co.nz) is more than adequate, but if you want something that looks a bit flasher i'd recommend almost anything over the thermaltake, examples here (www.computerlounge.co.nz) and here (www.computerlounge.co.nz).

This is not a gaming PC then? If not that's fine. If it is well..........

1114636 2010-06-30 01:04:00 Semi gaming tbh
The only game I actually play religiously is World of Warcraft which in no way is a graphical hungary game...

@Nomad

The case looks awesome man :P it's only an extra $30 compared to the one I was going to get...I have a small mind...flashing lights excite me lmao

1114637 2010-06-30 01:11:00  Each to their own with the case.

WoW isn't too intensive on the graphics...but even with that card things aren't going to be super smooth.

1114638 2010-06-30 01:13:00 True, my computer at the moment however has an ATI Radeon 128mb GPU
and an AMD sempron 1.6Ghz CPU and WoW still works fine

1114639 2010-06-30 01:14:00 ... it'll be playable though. ;) wratterus (105)
