2010-06-28 23:47:00 | Hi all, I have an IDE Samsung 40G HDD (Model SP4002H) which has lots of important staff in it, such as photos.. Instead of connecting the correct power plug, I accidently connect it in a wrong way without looking the head of the plug and it is now totally not working. I googled it on internet and I think I have blown the circuit. From somewhere I read, if I change the circuit board with the exact version (SP4002H) I probably can revive my HDD. Not sure this is correct. However, after trying to locate the same version (SP4002H) of the circuit board, I can only find slightly different version one (SV4002H). Just want to know if anyone try this successfully before (even if it is different brand, sizes). I only got 1 last chance to try mine. If fail, I'm doomed...... Please help ! Thank you | ahd8888 (184) | |

2010-06-29 00:14:00 | Its quite hard to connect a Molex the wrong way, the top long edge has slanted corners!...What a rough bugger...LOL. | SolMiester (139) | |
2010-06-29 00:25:00 | Not implying you're stupid or anything, but you're totally sure it's the power connecter you stuffed? not the pins for the IDE connection? Like SolMiester said, pretty difficult to put a molex in wrong :S

2010-06-29 00:37:00 | Pls don't make me more miserable! It is the HDD molex connector that I connected wrongly. I have this "Made in PRC" portable hdd case. Its molex connector is soft, not like the real hard white plastic that u never plug it in wrong way. So that's how it happened. :crying | ahd8888 (184) | |

From somewhere I read, if I change the circuit board with the exact version (SP4002H) I probably can revive my HDD. Maybe. Try Trademe.. ALWAYS, ALWAYS COPY your stuff to a portable drive - not MOVE it. That way you have it in 2 locations if something does happen. I have mine on 3 drives, one that lives not in the house as well just for extra paranoia...... |
