The dvd drive is munted, how can i install either vista or 7 on it, using a usb? obviously formatting the usb drive and marking it active doesnt work. any clue? | aidanmaz (7180) | ||
2010-06-28 06:13:00 | are you sure the hard drive isn't munted? Boot to bios and do a hard drive scan. | Alex B (15479) | |
2010-06-28 06:19:00 | already did that, appears to be fine. i get "disk error" when trying to boot after draggign and dropping windows 7 DVD contents, or Vista. Am gonna try liunx ubunut to see if it goes on, if it does then im doing something wrong | aidanmaz (7180) | |
2010-06-28 06:59:00 | Installing Via a USB drive is not to bad Follow these instructions (dotnetwizard.net) -- or these here (edge.technet.com) basically the same. Where it says copy files from ISO simply copy the complete contents of the DVD containing W7. If it were a ISO file its even easier.-- Simply use the This tool (download.cnet.com)

2010-06-28 07:28:00 | Win7 DVD to USB didnt work for me, apparently its an invalid ISO (i made an iso with imgburn). I beleive the hdd has bad sectors, i want to get another one, the connection is like IDE kinda of, with metal prong s that slip into place, it doesnt look like sata/or IDe, not to sure where i would get a drive from | aidanmaz (7180) | |
2010-06-28 08:59:00 | Did you burn, or mount the ISO?? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-06-28 09:06:00 | Personally I have found Imgburn fails a lot when you have a DVD and try to make an ISO out of it - while it appears to work, often it doesn't. The Drive will Prob be an IDE - usually if you look closely, you will see there is an adapter in it, this removes and shows the normal IDE pins for a 2.5 drive.
