823855 2009-10-26 00:28:00 I would be a little more circumspect about receiving payment in kind. The IRD is not likely to approve. CliveM (6007)

Quite the meat eater?:p

Just what they have I suppose. We get swedes often in season. The small round variety, not the two-legged ones.

Husband got 36 free range eggs yesterday. In addition to money.

Nothing wrong with barter for individuals but once you are running a business you are required to keep records and pay tax. I am not sure how you account for the value of services received to IRD standards.

Of course what IRD does not know is not a problem but if you are in business it is not a good idea to give them reason to check you out by telling the world you get paid under the table. :)

823862 2009-10-27 05:35:00 Me I offically charge $50 per hour for call outs, workshop is mostly flat rates which are charged depending on how much needs doing, but it always works out heaps cheaper.

I hate doing scans at customers places try to avoid it because these days the virus and malware databases are so big and there are so many things to scan for it takes ages.

However I feel I need to raise my fees, they haven't changed for the last 6 years, and business is booming, less repairs more profit would be nice.
